My Story: Before I tell you where I stand, let me tell you where I sit. All of us became progressives out of specific concerns. Some got here out of the environmental movement, others from the civil rights movement and still others by way of the gay/lesbian movement. And, it is no surprise that our origins influence the priorities we place on issues. Me - I come from a union background. Both my father and mother were labor organizers. I worked in the labor movement for 15 years. So my primary concern is with working people and the working class. I believe that the best protection for working people is to organize themselves to become the masters of their own destiny. I don't have much patience for centralized government. However, I am not so naive as to think that I can just ignore the impact it has on the lives of my fellow citizens. Currently, it is the only game in town. So, I begrudgingly participate. You will see me focus on issues from a working person's perspective. And, you might find me critical of progressives as a result. However, I am always open to other perspectives. I may disagree but that does not mean that I haven't listened. Hopefully, you will listen to what I have to say and tell me what you think.
